Google Celebrates Edu: Must See Events

It is wonderful to see Google recognizing World Teacher's Day coming up this Friday. Education International and UNESCO have done a great job pulling this event together to celebrate teachers all over the globe. This whole week, Google will be honoring teachers by highlighting events, accomplishments, and other educational programs using Google tools. Tune into the Google in Education page and follow the #wtd2012 hashtag to stay informed. Here are some events being promoted and a few other education tools from Google.

• Have you used the Khan Academy to facilitate learning beyond the classroom? Join a live Google+ Hangout with Salman Khan of Khan Academy, as he takes your questions about his new book - The One World Schoolhouse: Education Re-imagined.
• The World Wonders Project lets you discover over one hundred world heritage sites using the StreetView technology, 3D modeling, and other Google technologies.
• Google in Education Curriculum: Understanding YouTube & Digital Citizenship is an interactive curriculum designed to support secondary students.
• Google Field Trip is a new Android app that runs in the background but alerts you when you get close to something interesting. It is a guided walking tour pre-built for you.
• The upcoming Google Code-In allows secondary students to explore the many facets of open source software.
• Register to Vote with Google.
